I am cleaning out files and found this undated blog that I had written for the church newsletter and printed sometime in the last 2-3 years. With another election and the angst about the Corona 19 Virus, I think the ideas I expressed are still very relevant.

"The events last week have affected all of us in different ways according to our backgrounds, biases, etc. I have been getting feedback from various people in the church about feelings. Some of you are depressed; some of you are fearful; some of you have given up on anything getting better in our world.

Someone said that it is ok to focus on dysfunction in our society so we know what needs to be healed and compared it to a toe hurting. Well it so happens that my big toe hurt really really bad 2 weeks ago. I did not know what was causing it and I looked and researched and the possibilities of what it could be were horrible. I decided to focus my thoughts on healing and "saw" my body as whole and healthy. My big toe was healed.

What about shifting our thoughts about what is wrong to what we want to see in our world. I truly believe that what we focus on increases. If you focus on negativity, then the negativity grows. The focus on what is wrong is causing only more fear and division in my opinion.

My belief is that the spiritual teachings of Unity call us to hold the light of good, hope, love and a belief that all is happening for a higher good in the end. I have had this image for some time that our church is a point of spiritual light on this planet which is joined in mind and consciousness with other spiritual lights around the world that can hold in prayer consciousness the idea of transformation and change for the good of all.

Last Saturday evening I hosted a Social Auction Event and showed Shirley Maclaine's Mini-TV series based on her book "Out on a Limb". So I decided to use her quotes for this column. Some of them are humorous. I hope you enjoy them.

"If anything interferes with my inner peace, I will walk away. Arguments with family members. All that stuff. None of it matters.

It's useless to hold a person to anything he says while he's in love, drunk, or running for office.

If they would teach us from the time we're little to meditate and get in touch with all that our souls know, we wouldn't fight so much.

The best way to get husbands to do something is to suggest that perhaps they are too old to do it.

Women love working together. That's my experience anyway."
