I always have a difficult time when I hear someone talk in an angry tone about a subject, person, politics, etc. It does not take a rocket scientist to see the effect the emotions are having on their body. Their blood pressure goes up and if they continue the anger "habit" then physical problems begin to appear.
Anger is not only bad for the person who is angry but also detrimental for all those who are forced into listening. I have noticed in the past that when I would get angry I would get very ill. I could see a definite correlation.
Emotions also cause us to look for ways to make us feel better such as drugs, food, sex, etc. All of these can play havoc with our body depending on how they are used.
I have been talking about Mindfulness each Sunday morning. In these talks I point out how we can break harmful habits and how we can remain calm and not react in situations which are emotional.
Life is meant to be enjoyed and just not endured.
